About

Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home is an important part of Southampton's history. At the corner of Street Road and Second Street Pike, Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home dates back to the 1870s. We've renovated our historic building through the years to add modern amenities while preserving the character of the Victorian-era structure.

It's a light-filled space with lovely furnishings, private arrangement rooms and a chapel that accommodates 100 guests. There's plenty of parking on-site.

Personalized funeral services

Chapel at Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home Inc.We are devoted to delivering the highest level of satisfaction possible. Each member of our professional team is committed to daily excellence. As an honored Dignity Memorial® provider, we promise to create a meaningful service designed to help you and your family through one of the most personal and challenging stages of life.

Experts at creating unique and memorable tributes that celebrate a person’s passions and personality, we know just what to do. For instance, if he spent most mornings on the golf course, we can all wear golf shirts and display his prized clubs. We can build a mini putting green and guests can take home personalized golf balls as keepsakes. If she spent her winters on the slopes, we could transform our chapel into a snowy wonderland and serve après-ski treats like hot chocolate, spiced apple cider and cheese fondue.

We can find inspiration almost anywhere. Just leave the details—no matter how big or small—to our imaginative team.

We have lots of ideas and resources.

Cremation in Bucks County

Signature Dedication at Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral HomeThere are many options for cremation in Northeast Philadelphia—and they're not all equal. We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none. We operate an on-site crematory and can accommodate a witness cremation if that's your family's wish.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

If you're interested in cemetery placement, our sister cemetery, Forest Hills Cemetery in Huntingdon Valley, is among the prettiest in the area. It offers cremation niches, memorial benches and more.

And for those who wish for a more dramatic memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

History

William Rowen was an influential resident of Southampton and president of the Philadelphia School Board. He opened Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home in 1870.

In the early 1940s, his grandson, William Rowen Grant, purchased the old Leedman Funeral Home and moved the family business to a historic building on Street Road in Bucks County's Southampton Township. Leedman Funeral Home was well established in the area and associated with the Oliver Bair Company, an exclusive Philadelphia funeral home at the turn of the 20th century.

The Grant family were always pioneers, and they continued that path when they opened one of the earlier crematories in the area at their funeral home in 1970. Great-grandson William Rowen Grant Jr. continued the family business until October 1995, when it became part of the Dignity Memorial network.
